Cadiz is located on a peninsula on the Atlantic Ocean and is the oldest city in Spain. This city is, because of its shape with the sea on three sides, also called Una Taza de Plata, which means the silver bowl. Another nickname for the city is Little Havana, because of the similarities and ties between the two cities. During this audio tour, you will get to know impressive sights such as the Cathedral of Cadiz, Torre Tavira, Castillo de San Sebastián, Teatro Romano de Cadiz, and Parque Genovés. Catedral de Cadiz (Pass by)
Constructed over centuries, the cathedral showcases a captivating blend of architectural styles, including Baroque and Neoclassical influences. One of its most striking features is its golden-tiled dome, which has earned it the nickname "Catedral de la Santa Cruz sobre el Mar" or "Cathedral of the Holy Cross upon the Sea." This grand cathedral stands as a testament to Cádiz's maritime heritage and historical significance. Inside, visitors can explore an array of chapels adorned with stunning artwork, intricate sculptures, and beautiful stained glass windows. The crypt houses the remains of several notable figures from Cádiz's history.
Teatro Romano (Pass by)
The Romano Theatre of Cadiz is on the tour route. The Roman theatre is located in the El Populo district, just east of the city's main cathedral. The remains were discovered in 1980. The theatre, believed to have been built in the 1st century BC, was excavated by order of King Alfonso X of Castile.
Plaza de San Juan de la Cruz (Pass by)
