A walk through a reddish ravine, where each geological formation carved by the wind and water will give you beautiful postcards of the foothills, a more than deserved prelude to Cafayate, the heart of the Calchaquí Valley where the sun always shines and the best wine awaits you.
The city of Cafayate is considered the land of the sun and wine. It is located in the Calchaquí Valley, 180 km from the capital of Salta, and you can enjoy one of the most impressive and renowned routes in Northern Argentina.
It will depart from the city of Salta, touring the centre and south of the Lerma Valley, to then enter the Quebrada de las Conchas Natural Reserve. A 90 km low cornice road will take you through a narrow valley surrounded by colourful hills, dominated by orange and red. There you will find geoforms carved by Mother Nature such as La Garganta del Diablo, El Amphitheatre, Las Ventanas, Los Castillos, La Yesera, El Sapo, etc.
In Cafayate you will have the chance to visit a winery, with tastings of the best wines in the area. Although the region always refers to Torrontés, the place has a large number of hectares devoted to red grapes such as Malbec, Tannat or Cabernet Sauvignon.
After lunch (not included) you will return to Salta by the same route.
