Begin your excursion at the small harbour of Calasetta, near the restaurant Il Veliero. Continue by car to the Salina area, where a guided walk of around 4 km begins along the coast to Costa Maccori, immersed in the colours and scents of the Mediterranean scrub.
During the walk, discover natural environments rich in biodiversity, with a particular focus on the birdlife and flora of the Salina, an ideal habitat for numerous species of migratory birds. The route also passes through sites symbolic of local history: the ancient Tonnara, the striking plant formations of the Labirinto, and the old military batteries overlooking the sea, silent reminders of the island’s strategic past.
The experience is enriched by its connection to Tabarchina culture, a historical identity that makes Calasetta unique in the Mediterranean. The tour includes a ticket to visit Ràixe – Digital Spaces for Tabarchina Culture at your own pace, the multimedia museum dedicated to the memory and traditions of the Tabarchino people. Through digital archives, photographs, videos, and community stories, the museum traces the journey of the Tabarchini from Genoa to Tabarka, leading up to the founding of Calasetta in 1770.
At the end of the excursion, a small social gathering awaits you, featuring traditional Calasetta sweets offered by the guide and an exclusive commemorative scroll. Inside, you will find an ancient ritual dedicated to the feast of St John, written in both Italian and Tabarchino, as a symbolic memento of the experience.
