Step into a true taste of Cancún through one of its most iconic traditional dishes: Tikin Xic Fish. More than just a cooking class, this is an intimate cultural experience where you will discover the flavours, aromas, and stories behind ancient Mayan-inspired cuisine in a warm and authentic atmosphere.
Together, we will prepare fresh fish marinated with achiote, citrus, and local spices using traditional techniques passed down through generations along the Caribbean coast. You will learn about the origins of Tikin Xic, the importance of local ingredients, and the cultural traditions connected to this beautiful dish.
This is a 3-hour experience that includes the cooking workshop, preparation time, and a relaxed shared meal. During the experience, you will prepare the traditional marinade from scratch, learn about achiote and regional ingredients, and cook the fish using authentic local methods.
Each fish weighs approximately 1 kg and is shared between every two guests, offering more than enough food to enjoy a full traditional meal. The experience also includes rice, beans, two fresh aguas del día or two beers per guest, and the classic Mexican dessert “Caballero Pobre.”
More than a class, this is a space to slow down, share homemade food, and enjoy meaningful conversations about Mexican culture, food, and everyday life in Cancún and the Yucatán Peninsula.
This experience was created for travellers looking for something genuine, personal, and far away from mass tourism. Whether you love food, culture, or simply want to connect with local traditions, this workshop offers a beautiful way to experience Mexico through its flavours.
