Activity itinerary

Palace of Parliament
  • 1h
  • Admission ticket included
The Palace of Parliament is the world’s second-largest administrative building (after the Pentagon) and former dictator Nicolae Ceauşescu’s most infamous creation. Started in 1984 (and still unfinished), the 330,000-sq-metre building has more than 3000 rooms. Entry is by guided tour only (book ahead). Entry to the palace is from B-dul Naţiunile Unite on the building's northern side (to find it, face the front of the palace from B-dul Unirii and walk around the building to the right). Bring your passport.
Muzeul National al Satului "Dimitrie Gusti"
  • 1h
  • Admission ticket included
In Romania there were open to the public Ethnographic Museum of Transylvania in Cluj (1929) and the Romanian Village Museum in Bucharest (1936), the current National Museum of the Village "Dimitrie Gusti". Dimitrie Gusti, professor and founder of the Sociological School in Bucharest, organised monographic research campaigns in a relatively large number of Romanian villages. Together with his team of students, sociologists, ethnographers, folklorists, doctors and many others, after 10 years of research (1925-1935), and with the moral and material support of the Royal Foundation "Prince Carol", he laid the foundations of this exceptional monographic work.
Ateneul Roman
  • 20m
  • Admission ticket included
The Romanian Athenaeum is a major Bucharest landmark. It was built by the Romanian Athenaeum Society at the end of the 19th century to host a public library, conferences, classical music concerts, exhibitions, and other cultural-artistic activities as part of its mission to spread culture by any means.
Revolution Square
  • 20m
The Revolution Square is located on Calea Victoriei, known by the locals as Piața Palatului (Palace Square) until 1989; it was later renamed after the Romanian Revolution, which in Bucharest started at the meeting held by the communist president, Nicolae Ceaușescu, right here, in the actual Revolution Square.
Peles Castle
  • 1h
  • Admission ticket included
Commissioned by King Carol I in 1873 and completed in 1883, Peles castle served as the summer residence of Romania's royal family, until 1947. Peles castle's 160 rooms are adorned with the fine European art: paintings by great artists, Murano crystal chandeliers, German stained-glass windows and Cordoba leather-covered walls. Each room is decorated in a different style or theme. There is a mini-Theatre, Music Room (India), Turkish Salon, Great Salon (Italy), Council Room (Switzerland), Moor Hall, and so much more.
Bran Castle (Dracula's Castle)
  • 1h
  • Admission ticket included
Bran Castle is one of the most famous landmarks in Transylvania, and is known as the home of Count Dracula. The 14th-century hillside castle and fortress, however, actually houses a collection of furniture and artworks that once belonged to Marie, Romania’s last queen. Tour the eerie castle—including the infamous torture room—and decide for yourself what's fact or fiction. Located about 120 miles away from Bucharest, the castle and Transylvania are a great day trip from the capital, especially for lovers of medieval history and vampires. While you're there, don’t forget to get a few spooky souvenirs from the gift shops at the castle's entrance. – Tripadvisor
Brasov County
  • 2h
Fringed by the peaks of the Southern Carpathian Mountains and resplendent with gothic, baroque and renaissance architecture, Brasov is one of the most beautiful and visited places in Romania.
