What you can expect

  • Take stargazing from a hot tub to the next level and watch the Northern Lights from a natural hot spring. Spend an evening at Chena Hot Springs Resort, exploring the Aurora Ice Museum, relaxing in the warm pools, and watching the Aurora Borealis light up the night sky.

Get picked up from your Fairbanks hotel and enjoy the scenery during the 60-mile (96-km) drive to Chena Hot Springs Resort. Begin your visit with a tour of the Aurora Ice Museum. Grab a parka and explore this unique facility, built using more than 1,000 tonnes of ice harvested from the property. Admire colourful ice crystal chandeliers and incredible sculptures created by world-champion ice carvers Steve and Heather Brice.

After your museum visit, put on your swimming costume and warm up in the resort’s hot springs. Soak in the mineral-rich outdoor rock lake, relax in the warm indoor pools, or enjoy the outdoor hot tubs. Take a break for dinner (available for purchase) at the resort’s restaurant before settling into the warm waters for an evening of stargazing and Northern Lights viewing.

As the sky darkens, watch the stars emerge and keep an eye out for the Aurora Borealis dancing overhead. After enjoying this spectacular nighttime experience, relax on the ride back to Fairbanks.
