Session Option 1: Morning Session (Starts at 9:30 AM)
10:00 AM - Market Tour: Discover Sichuan's Flavours
Meet your friendly local host at a traditional wet market. They will guide you through the bustling stalls, introducing you to the soul of Sichuan cuisine: the fragrant Sichuan peppercorns, the complex doubanjiang (chilli bean paste), various chilli oils, and more. Touch, smell, and ask questions to truly understand the ingredients.
10:45 AM - Home Kitchen: Hands-on Cooking Class
Bring your ingredients to the host’s home. In their cosy kitchen, roll up your sleeves for a genuine hands-on class. Learn to prepare and cook 3 signature home-style Sichuan dishes (choices include classics like Kung Pao Chicken, Mapo Tofu, and Sweet and Sour Pork Ribs) and wrap perfect Chinese dumplings (jiaozi)
11:45 AM - Family-Style Lunch & Cultural Exchange
The best part begins! Sit down to enjoy the delicious feast you’ve helped create, served with authentic Chinese tea. Your host and another 1or 2local friends(who enjoys cultural exchange) will join the meal. This is a relaxed, friendly gathering where you can share stories, ask about life in Chengdu, and make real connections.
1:20 PM - Traditional Craft & Chat : Chinese Paper-Cutting
Wind down with a calming creative session. Learn the basics of the traditional art of Chinese paper-cutting (jianzhi). Create your own unique design to take home as a beautiful, handcrafted souvenir. Share some culture exchange with host and know the real life of Chinese people ,their way of living.
~2:00 PM - Tour Ends & Goodbyes
We say our warm goodbyes. You’ll leave not only with new cooking skills and a souvenir but also with wonderful memories and potential new friendships. Your host is happy to give you tips for the rest of your stay.
Session Option 2: Afternoon Session (Starts at 2:30PM)
The experience is identical! Enjoy the same authentic journey starting in the afternoon. Begin with the market at 2:30 PM, followed by cooking, the shared meal and exchange, a paper-cutting, and wrap up around 6:30 PM.
