What you can expect

  • Experience the magic of Sichuan Opera at Shu Feng Ya Yun Theatre, one of Chengdu's best-known traditional performance venues, located near the famous Kuanzhai Alley.

Step into a traditional Chinese-style theatre and enjoy approximately 80 minutes of colourful costumes, lively music, and fascinating performances. Watch the spectacular face-changing show (Bian Lian) as skilled performers switch between brightly coloured masks in the blink of an eye. Be amazed by thrilling fire-spitting and other remarkable stage techniques.

Beyond face-changing, discover a variety of traditional Sichuan performing arts, including puppetry, hand-shadow performances, folk music, classic opera scenes, and the entertaining Rolling Light act.

Relax with a cup of authentic Sichuan gaiwan tea, served in a traditional lidded tea bowl, while enjoying the show. A shared plate of sunflower seeds adds to the atmosphere of Chengdu's traditional teahouse culture.

The theatre is situated inside Chengdu Culture Park, near Qintai Road, making it easy to combine the performance with a visit to Kuanzhai Alley and the surrounding historic areas.

Choose from three seating categories — Standard (Sanpin), Premium (Erpin), or VIP (Yipin). Each includes admission to the performance, gaiwan tea, and shared sunflower seeds. Additional benefits vary by ticket category.

Whether you're visiting Chengdu for the first time or looking for an entertaining evening of Chinese culture, this Sichuan Opera show is a memorable way to discover the city's performing arts traditions.
