We visit the famous Chiang Dao Cave complex, which stretches for more than 12 kilometres beneath the Chiang Dao mountain. Only a small section is open to the public, yet it has long been an important religious site. Inside, you will find an impressive marble Burmese Buddha image along with countless other sacred shrines. Accompanied by a local guide, you explore part of this mysterious underground world, where the cool air, deep silence, and mystical atmosphere create a truly unforgettable experience. During the walk you will also pass through two narrow passages, making this part of the tour perhaps less suitable for those with claustrophobia. According to Thai legend, a hermit lived here a thousand years ago and is said to be buried in the deepest chamber of the cave. According to local belief, anyone who dares to remove even the smallest piece of rock from the cave is doomed to wander forever in its labyrinth of passages.

After lunch, it is time to visit the famous Bua Thong Waterfall, more commonly known as the Sticky Falls. This is no ordinary waterfall. The limestone rocks here create a natural anti-slip surface, as the mineral deposits prevent algae from forming. As a result, the stones are surprisingly grippy rather than slippery, allowing you to climb both up and down the cascading water with ease. It is a playful and truly unique experience, as few waterfalls in the world offer the chance to walk against the flow of the water without slipping. Surrounded by lush forest, the Sticky Falls are also a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the fresh air. You can challenge yourself by climbing the tiers of the waterfall, or simply sit back and enjoy the refreshing scenery. Don’t forget to bring swimwear if you’d like to cool off in the clear, cool streams at the base of the falls; it’s the perfect way to end the day immersed in nature.

On the way back to Chiang Mai, we make a short stop at the Chedi Mae Krua Market, a lively local market where you can experience everyday Thai life up close. Strolling through the colourful stalls, you’ll find fresh fruit and typical Thai snacks, a perfect opportunity to browse, soak up the atmosphere, and maybe even sample a few treats. It’s the perfect opportunity to soak in the bustling atmosphere, mingle with local vendors, and perhaps sample a tasty treat or two. Whether you’re tempted by exotic fruits you’ve never seen before or intrigued by the sizzling street food, this visit offers a delightful glimpse into the authentic flavours and rhythms of daily life in Northern Thailand.
