Experience an authentic 3-day, 2-night journey from Chiang Mai to a Karen village in Mae Chaem. This immersive trip allows you to connect with nature, learn traditional ways of life, and support community-based tourism in a peaceful mountain setting.
Day 1: Arrival, Village Life & Culture
Your journey begins with a hotel pickup in Chiang Mai, followed by a scenic drive through mountains and countryside. The final part of the trip is by 4x4 vehicle, bringing you into a remote Karen village surrounded by nature.
Upon arrival, you will be welcomed by your host family and enjoy a traditional home-cooked lunch. In the afternoon, take a guided walk around the village to explore rice fields, streams, and local life. You may also join simple activities such as collecting vegetables or preparing ingredients for dinner.
In the evening, enjoy a home-cooked dinner and a simple cultural experience such as local music or storytelling. Overnight in a traditional homestay.
Day 2: Trekking, Waterfall & Flexible Stay
After breakfast, begin a guided trekking experience through forest trails. Learn about local plants, herbs, and the relationship between the villagers and nature.
Continue to a hidden waterfall where you can relax, take photos, or swim. A simple lunch will be served in nature, near a stream or forest area.
In the afternoon, you can choose your preferred experience. For adventure, continue trekking and stay overnight in a tent on the mountain, enjoying fresh air and natural surroundings.
Alternatively, return to the village and relax at the homestay for more comfort.
Dinner is provided in both options, either as a simple outdoor meal or a home-cooked dinner. Overnight in a tent or homestay.
Day 3: Local Life & Farewell
Wake up to the peaceful atmosphere and enjoy breakfast. Spend your morning exploring the village, observing daily life, or taking a short walk in nature.
Before leaving, join a traditional Karen farewell ceremony (“Mud Mee”), a meaningful way to say goodbye and receive blessings from the villagers.
Afterwards, return to Chiang Mai with unforgettable memories and a deeper connection to local culture.
