What you can expect

Explore the Chaparri Ecological Reserve, a haven for wildlife enthusiasts. Witness tapirs, pumas, and jaguars in their natural habitat hike through lush trails, discover hidden waterfalls, and soak in the breathtaking scenery. An unforgettable nature adventure awaits.

Itinerary:
• We begin the excursion heading towards Chongoyape (80 km southeast of Chiclayo), from here we will depart towards this ecological dry forest conservation reserve with a local guide.

• We will pass through impressive places, enjoying the landscape. Later, we will arrive at the Enchanted Garden in the Chaparri Private Conservation Area. This reserve occupies 34,142 hectares and is considered a sacred mountain (Cerro Chaparri) by the residents of this area of Peru. Here, we will do the Spectacled Bear route, the Huachuma or San Pedro route and the White-winged Guan route.

• During our tour we will observe diverse flora and endemic birds such as the Red-headed Parrot, the Peruvian Owl, the Emerald Parakeet, the Bush Nightjar, the Tumbes Swift, the Short-tailed Starlet, the Scarlet-backed Woodpecker, the Peruvian Woodpecker, and the Pacific Fjord. , Eyebrow Wren or Nightingale, Tumbes Woodpecker, among many other birds that we can only find here. Chaparri is home to endangered species such as the Spectacled Bear (Andean Bear), Andean Condor, and the White-winged Guan, for whom conservation and reintroduction projects are carried out. It is also home to coastal foxes, guanacos, peccaries, deer, pumas, royal vultures, hummingbirds, reptiles and more

• You will also visit the spectacled bear rescue centre. Bears that have been rescued from illegal captivity are rehabilitated here until they can be released into the wild. Here we will meet one of its permanent residents, ““Cuto”“, a bear that was rescued from a circus, and is now cared for by park rangers in a natural environment. In this centre they rehabilitate bears that have been rescued from illegal captivity, here they learn again to fend for themselves until they can be released into their habitat.

• We continue the visit along the Huachuma Route, where we learn about the shamanism sessions, their meaning, and respect for the Apus (spirits of the mountains), we continue and visit the rectory and we will learn about different snakes in the area, amphibians, their shape of life and its characteristics.

• Finally we tour the Interpretation Centre, which in detail explains the biodiversity of the area, how to protect it, and the value of this wonderful ecosystem in the dry forest. After we visited this northern paradise, we took a detour and arrived at the Tinajones Reservoir, which supplies water to Lambayeque. In addition to enjoying the landscape, we can also observe birds such as eagles, and herons, among others.

We return to Chiclayo.
