Step 1: Departure from Chișinău
Your journey begins with a 1 to 1.5-hour trip from Chișinău to the city of Bender. We offer flexibility in how you reach us:
• Private Transfer: You can book a comfortable private car for a direct and seamless ride.
• Local Experience: For a more adventurous “local” feel, you can take a regional minibus (marshrutka).
• Please note: Transport costs are not included in the tour price and are paid separately.
Step 2: Local Treasures & Shopping
Upon arrival in Bender, we start with a light walk through the local shops. This is a fantastic opportunity to see regional goods, unique textiles, and local products. It’s the perfect time to pick up souvenirs or try some famous local spirits before we head towards the river.
Step 3: A Scenic Walk to the Fortress
Next, we take a refreshing walk along the scenic banks of the Dniester River, leading us directly to the gates of the Bender Fortress. We will spend time exploring this massive 16th-century Ottoman stronghold. You will have the chance to climb the towers, walk the ancient stone walls, and enjoy panoramic views of the river valley that once served as a strategic crossroad for empires.
Step 4: The Ultimate Homemade Picnic
After building up an appetite, we return to the riverbank for the highlight of the day: a traditional Moldovan picnic. Everything is prepared with love using authentic home recipes. Our menu includes:
• Plăcinte: Flaky, traditional pastries with various savoury fillings.
• Mămăligă: Our famous cornmeal dish, served with traditional sides (sour cream, cheese, and meat starters).
• Homemade Wine: A taste of the region's soul, crafted from local grapes.
Special Addition: If you are celebrating a special occasion, you can pre-order a homemade cake. Please note that cakes are an additional cost and must be ordered at least three days in advance.
Step 5: Return to Chișinău
As the day winds down, we prepare for the return trip. Just like the arrival, you can choose between a private transfer or the local minibus. Our team will ensure you are set for the journey back to the capital.
