Join your host in a local home for a warm and immersive Indian cooking experience that goes beyond recipes. This hands-on class is designed to introduce guests to real Indian home cooking, everyday spices, and the stories, traditions, and food culture that shape Indian meals.
The experience focuses on learning 3–4 dishes in detail. Guests can choose a favourite curry, prepared step by step with guidance on selecting spices, balancing flavours, and achieving the right texture and taste. Whether it is a mild or rich curry, your host explains the process clearly so guests understand how Indian gravies are built and how small changes affect flavour.
The next highlight of the class is authentic Indian Biryani. Guests learn how this beloved dish is traditionally prepared, from layering rice and spices to understanding timing and aroma. Special attention is given to frying onions to golden perfection, a key element that brings depth and sweetness to Biryani. These techniques help guests recreate this classic dish confidently at home.
The menu also includes a simple yet flavourful veg dish that pairs perfectly with rice or Indian breads. Although it may look complex, your host demonstrates easy methods and practical shortcuts used in Indian homes, making the dish approachable even for beginners. Helpful tips and small cooking tricks are shared throughout the session.
The experience begins in the afternoon with a warm welcome at your host’s home. Guests are offered spiced Indian tea along with light snacks. Those interested can also take part in preparing popular pakoras while learning how tea-time snacks are enjoyed in Indian households. This relaxed time allows guests to ask questions and talk freely about Indian food, daily life, and local traditions.
During the cooking session, guests actively participate in chopping, cooking, and assembling dishes, learning by doing rather than just watching. The atmosphere is friendly and unhurried, making it easy to follow along and enjoy the process.
After cooking, guests sit down together to enjoy a freshly prepared Indian dinner featuring the dishes made during the class. To end the experience on a sweet note, a homemade Indian dessert is served.
This cooking class in a local home is ideal for travellers who want to learn authentic Indian recipes, understand Indian spices, and enjoy a genuine cultural experience in Delhi through food, conversation, and shared moments.
