Your adventure begins early in the morning. If you choose our optional transport, your friendly driver will pick you up at your Panama City hotel between 5:00 and 5:45 a.m. and take you on a scenic 2.5–3 hour journey through Panama’s lush jungle highlands to the Port of Carti. If you’re driving yourself, remember that only 4x4 vehicles are allowed into San Blas — smaller cars will be turned around at the border.

Upon arrival at the port, things may appear a bit unorganized at first, but rest assured — the Guna community has everything well-managed. After a brief wait, your lancha (boat) will be ready to take you out into the turquoise Caribbean. The 25–40 minute boat ride can be bumpy or wet depending on ocean conditions, and may include short stops at other islands to pick up or drop off passengers — offering a glimpse of authentic Guna island life.

Your first destination is Isla Perro (Dog Island), one of the most famous in San Blas. Known for its sunken shipwreck reef, this is one of the best snorkelling spots in Panama. Swim among colourful tropical fish, relax under swaying palms, or simply soak up the breathtaking island views.

Next, you’ll visit the Natural Pool, a shallow sandbank in the middle of the sea. Here, you can stand waist-deep in clear turquoise waters surrounded by starfish — a magical and serene experience that’s unique to San Blas.

Your third stop is Isla Chichime, often described as one of the most beautiful and lively islands in San Blas. Between 3:00 and 3:30 p.m., your boat will depart back to Carti. If you’ve selected our optional return transport, your driver will be waiting to take you safely back to Panama City, arriving at your hotel around 7:00 p.m.
