What you can expect

Today, we will enjoy a unique experience that combines the majestic feat of the Panama Canal with a visit to an authentic Panamanian indigenous community.

Our first stop will be the Miraflores Visitors Centre, where we will learn about the history and operational functions of this engineering marvel. During the journey, our guide will share interesting facts about the importance and development of the Panama Canal.

We will then head to the Chagres National Park, where we will board traditional Embera “piraguas,” or canoes. For approximately 30 minutes, we will navigate the waters of the Gatún River until we spot the Emberá Querá village, whose name means “Emberá Perfume,” where we will be welcomed by our friendly hosts.

We will tour the community to learn about their homes and customs, and we will have the opportunity to chat with the tribe's shaman, who will explain to us how the rainforest plants are used for medicinal purposes.

At the end of the visit, we will board the canoe again to return to the mainland and continue our journey to the next destination.
