In the middle of this square is the statue of King Friedrich August seated on his throne. Make sure to look for a statue of a seated king. Not standing, and not on a horse! Please remember that in case you are not there, the guide will try and wait for a few minutes but then will have to leave. In case you are late, it would be considered a no show and is non-refundable.

What you can expect
Let your guide bring the history of Dresden to life on this guided walking tour in the Old Town. Explore the multi layered history of the city through captivating stories about rulers, love, betrayal, and war. Meet your guide amid the monuments and churches surrounding Schlossplatz square near the River Elbe. Find out how the city developed from a small fishing village.
Continue along the narrow cobbled streets to Theaterplatz square which is dominated by the imposing Semper Opera house. See the Zwinger palatial complex and hear about the ruler that built it as a display of wealth and power. Walk on through the open spaces of the reconstructed Royal Palace. Follow in the footsteps of dukes to reach the Royal Stables and Baroque-style Frauenkirche. End your tour at Neumarkt, which symbolises Dresden's original as well as new beginnings. The tour ends close to the Brühl's Terrace which overlooks the Elbe river with its beautiful views. The Neumarkt is also the perfect place to sit down after the tour and treat yourself to lunch or a traditional coffee and cake. Your guide will point out the best places to do so and also give you tips as to what you can do afterwards.
