Enjoy a unique experience in the heart of El Torcal de Antequera, one of the most breathtaking karst landscapes in Europe and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. On this guided geological tour, you will discover the secrets hidden within this extraordinary natural site, accompanied by an expert geology guide.
The activity begins on the stairs between the car park and the Torcal Alto Visitor Centre, where your guide will meet you before you set off on a circular tour lasting approximately three hours.
Along the way, you will learn how the sea, the wind, and the rain, over millions of years, sculpted the whimsical formations that define the Torcal. You will discover El Tornillo, the site's emblem, and the curious formation known as El Sombrero (The Hat) or the UFO, two spectacular examples of natural erosion. The tour continues to El Laberinto, an area of twisted rocks and natural passageways, where we will take a short break to rest and enjoy a snack (not included; each participant must bring their own).
We will continue on to the Amphitheatre, one of the most photogenic areas of the tour, surrounded by stone towers that look like sculptures. A few metres away, we will visit the Refugio de Juan Ramón, an old shepherds' shelter that is part of the history of El Torcal. In the final part of the tour, your guide will show you the Montpellier Maple, the only specimen of its kind in all of Andalusia, a botanical gem that survives among the limestone rock and symbolises life in extreme conditions.
Throughout the tour, in addition to providing geological explanations, your guide will share with you details about the fauna, flora, and history of El Torcal, making the hike a well-rounded and highly engaging experience, ideal for families, couples, groups of friends, or anyone who is curious and wants to understand and enjoy this unique landscape.
The tour ends at the same starting point, the Torcal Alto Visitor Centre, where you can take the opportunity to rest, visit the shop, or simply take in the views before heading back.
Come and discover the Torcal de Antequera in a different way: an experience that combines science, nature, and excitement in an incomparable setting.
