Shurijo Castle Park

Nanjo

Just 30 minutes from Naha, Nanjo City is a hidden gem where nature, history, and spirituality meet. Known as the “Heart City” for its heart-shaped geography, Nanjo is home to some of Okinawa’s most sacred sites. Explore Sefa Utaki, the Ryukyu Kingdom’s top spiritual sanctuary, or visit Kudaka Island, the legendary “Island of the Gods.” Wander through Galára Valley, a prehistoric canyon formed from collapsed limestone caves, and discover the ruins of Tamagusuku Castle, built on a natural fortress. Kokusai-dori (International Street) – Naha, Okinawa Kokusai-dori is a 1.6 km high street in city centre Naha, known as the “Miracle Mile” for its rapid post-war development. It’s the bustling hub for shopping, dining, and entertainment, perfect for experiencing Okinawan culture and nightlife. Highlights: Shopping: Okinawan crafts, pottery, glass, clothing, and local liquor (awamori). Dining & Nightlife: Restaurants, cafes, bars, many with live traditional music. This is an authentic Chinese-style garden located in Kume, Naha City, built to commemorate the sister-city relationship with Fuzhou City in Fujian Province, China. It opened in 1992.
