What you can expect

ETH Zurich consumes as much electricity on its Hönggerberg campus as a small town and requires a quantity of heat that could heat 2,000 single-family homes. At the same time, CO2 emissions must be reduced and net zero must be achieved by 2030 – with more and more students and numerous new construction projects. The solution lies underground: geothermal probes that extend up to 200 metres deep into the ground absorb heat in the summer and release it again in the winter. The campus has been supplied by the Anergie network since 2013. This
5,000 tonnes of CO2 can be saved per year. Descend into the catacombs of ETH Zurich and experience the 1.7-kilometer-long Anergie network on a tour. The future is already here.
