Set off from Favignana and head to Marettimo, the wildest and most unspoiled island in the Aegadian archipelago. This boat trip is designed for those who want to go beyond the classic coastal excursion and experience a full day immersed in the nature of the open sea, among spectacular caves, cliffs, and waters of an almost unreal blue.
After leaving the port of Favignana, the boat heads west. As you sail, you'll watch Favignana drift away behind you while the outline of Marettimo becomes increasingly clear: a mountain rising from the sea, with sheer cliffs, green valleys, and very few houses visible from the coast. It's the prelude to a completely different landscape, more rugged and wild, far from the busiest routes.
Once you reach Marettimo, you'll start exploring the island by sea. The skipper, who knows every cove, will take you along the coast to discover sea caves, natural arches, and small hidden bays. Depending on the sea conditions, you can enter some caves by boat to get a close-up look at the play of light and turquoise reflections on the water. Along the way, there are several stops for swimming and snorkelling: we'll provide you with a mask and snorkel, and you can swim among rocky seabeds, posidonia, and colourful fish within the protected marine area.
Besides the natural side, the excursion also lets you experience the most authentic side of the island. You'll have some free time in the small village of Marettimo, a fishing village made up of white houses, quiet alleys, and bars overlooking the small harbour. Here you can stroll around on your own, have a coffee overlooking the sea, buy some local products, or just sit and watch the slow life of the island. The stop will last about an hour.
During the day, the skipper will tell you interesting facts about Marettimo: the ancient fishermen's routes, the history of the reserve, the marine fauna that populates these waters, and the differences between the three main islands of the Egadi. Unlike the classic boat tour around Favignana, this excursion has a more “adventurous” feel: you really go offshore, towards an island that has maintained a wild and discreet soul.
You'll head back to Favignana in the afternoon. The return trip is the perfect time to relax on the deck, sunbathe, and look back on the day: the caves, the crystal-clear water, the silence of the village, and the feeling of having explored a still-unspoiled corner of the Mediterranean.
The excursion is suitable for couples, families, and groups of friends who want a more complete and “discovery” day on the boat, with a little more sailing than the classic tour of Favignana. We recommend bringing a swimming costume, beach towel, sun cream, hat, and, if you like, your snorkelling mask.
