What you can expect

  • Most visitors to Azerbaijan don't expect to find capybaras and alpacas roaming the Caucasus foothills — but Shamakhi has both. Just 130 km from Baku, this one-of-a-kind day trip combines wildlife, history, and wine into an experience unlike anything else in the region.
    Capybara Farm

Come face-to-face with capybaras — the world's largest rodents, native to South America, and famous for their extraordinarily calm, sociable nature. Feed them, photograph them, and enjoy their surprisingly soothing company. Children and adults alike are consistently amazed.
    Alpaca Azerbaijan (Meysari Village)

Azerbaijan's first alpaca farm, set against the stunning backdrop of the Caucasus mountains. Walk among these gentle, woolly animals, feed them by hand, and take some of the most unusual and memorable photos of your entire trip.
    Juma Mosque, Shamakhi

One of the oldest mosques in the world, built in 743 AD — free entry and genuinely extraordinary. A peaceful start to the day before the animal adventures begin.
