Continue to the impressive Poenari Fortress, the authentic fortress of Vlad the Impaler (Vlad Dracula). Perched high on a rocky cliff overlooking the Argeș Valley, it is considered the true fortress associated with the famous ruler. Visitors who wish to reach the fortress must climb approximately 1,500 steps. The climb is challenging but rewards you with breathtaking views and a unique historical experience. The journey also includes a stop at the beautiful Vidraru Lake, one of Romania's largest artificial lakes, surrounded by forests, cliffs, and spectacular mountain scenery.

While driving along the Transfăgărășan Highway, there is often a chance to spot bears near the roadside or at the edge of the forest. Although sightings cannot be guaranteed, if we are lucky enough to see them, they will always be observed safely from inside the vehicle without disturbing the animals.
