It starts with pickup from your accommodation in Cusco's historic centre at 8:00 p.m. Rest for the night on a sleeper bus with 160-degree reclining seats. Arrival in Puerto Maldonado early in the morning.
Day 1: Arrival and Adventure
We'll pick you up at the bus terminal and take you to our cosy hostel, where a refreshing welcome with seasonal fruit drinks awaits you. Settle into your bungalow and get ready for an introductory jungle hike, where you'll discover the variety of plants, insects, and birds in our conservation forest. And for the most adventurous, an exciting suspension bridge (zip line) awaits you! In the afternoon, we'll cruise along the river in search of wildlife and watch the beautiful sunset. As night falls, we'll go looking for caymans and capybaras.
Day 2: Tambopata National Reserve and Lake Sandoval
At dawn, we'll sail downriver to Tambopata National Reserve (1 hour). We'll hike 3 km and observe insects, monkeys, and giant spiders. We'll then arrive at Lake Sandoval, where we'll paddle slowly and discover the lake's wildlife, including piranhas, birds, butterflies, mammals, monkeys, and the giant river otter. We'll return to the lodge in the afternoon to get ready and head back to Cusco.
We will board the sleeper bus at 8:00 pm and travel overnight on the sleeper bus, arriving back at your hotel in Cusco early the next morning (7:30 am).
