What you can expect

Marvel at and learn about Edinburgh's beautiful Royal Mile as you escape the city on a comfortable minibus and travel into the iconic Scottish countryside.

Our first stop of the day at the beautifully preserved Falkland village is instantly recognisable as 1940s Inverness in Outlander. Take a walk through its cobbled streets, immerse yourself in the charming 17th-century architecture, and stop by the Bruce Fountain, where Frank first encounters Jamie’s ghost. Falkland provides the perfect combination of cinematic charm with deep historical significance.

Journey onwards to discover the real-life residence of Clan Mackenzie, Castle Leoch - Doune Castle. With its exemplary 14th-century Scottish architecture, Doune Castle provides a lavish peek into Scotland’s vast history. As an added bonus for any film buffs, Doune Castle also features in Game of Thrones and Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Take your time strolling through the grand hall and climbing the towers to enjoy magnificent views of the River Teith from the ramparts.

Continue on to the elegant Callendar House, a prominent French-style mansion situated in Falkirk, used in Outlander as the Duke of Sandringham’s kitchen. Use Callendar’s extensive exhibitions on Scottish social and industrial heritage to learn all about Scottish history and culture. Wander the extensive grounds and take note of the portion of Antonine Wall, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Sit back and relax whilst you are driven on to Midhope Castle, one of Outlander’s most prestigious locations. Midhope Castle, known fondly as Jamie Fraser’s family home Lallybroch, represents an important symbol of the Outlander series. Although the interior is closed to the public, the exterior provides important cultural and emotional significance for the show’s narrative. Enjoy walking the grounds and taking memorable photographs of this prominent site. If filming affect Midhope’s availability, we will ensure an equally exciting stop.

Our final stop of the day, Hopetoun House, is a magnificent example of Scottish baroque architecture and provides a rare opportunity to delve into both Scotland’s rich history and its Outlander connections. Hopetoun House serves as the Duke of Sandringham’s luxurious residence and provides insight into the life of 17-century aristocrats. Step inside the courtyard that hosted Jamie's ambush on Sandringham before returning to bustling Edinburgh.
