Experience the breathtaking beauty of Samaria Gorge on a full-day hiking adventure through one of Crete’s most spectacular natural landscapes. With convenient pickup from Heraklion, hike the full 18 km route through the gorge, surrounded by the dramatic White Mountains, wild nature, and stunning scenery.

Please note: this is the full 18 km hiking route and is recommended for experienced hikers with a good level of physical fitness. The hike involves uneven and rocky terrain, with some steep sections, and takes several hours to complete. Comfortable hiking shoes, suitable clothing, water, and sun protection are essential.

Your adventure begins with a morning pickup from your designated meeting point, followed by a scenic drive towards Omalos Plateau, the starting point of the hike. Before entering the gorge, you will have some time to make sure you have everything you need and purchase any last-minute supplies.

Then, it’s time to begin your hike through the spectacular Samaria Gorge. Follow the 18 km trail through the White Mountains, alongside the riverbed and through impressive rock formations. Keep your eyes open for the famous Kri-Kri, the wild Cretan goats that live in the area.

The hike continues all the way to the southern coast, where you will reach the seaside village of Agia Roumeli. After completing the trail, take some well-deserved time to relax, enjoy a refreshing swim in the Libyan Sea, and have lunch or a drink at one of the local taverns.

Later in the afternoon, board the local boat from Agia Roumeli to Chora Sfakion, where our bus will be waiting to take you back to your resort.
