Embark on a 3-day trekking adventure to Lake 69 and Lake Llanganuco in the Huascaran National Park. Discover the beauty of the Andes Mountains and the Llanganuco Lakes on this guided trek.
Day 1: Huaraz – Llanganuco Lakes
Depart at 9:00 AM from Huaraz and head north to the Llanganuco Lakes, which are located between the mountains of Huascaran and Huandoy. Pass by several typical villages and appreciate the beautiful views of the white mountains of Huandoy, Huascaran, Hualcan, Copa, and others.
Make a photo stop at various viewing points on the way. Continue to Carhuaz and stop to visit the province's Plaza de Armas and taste local craft-made ice cream prepared with local fruits. Photograph the local traditions of Carhuaz.
Afterwards, head to Yungay and visit the ancient city, which was buried by an avalanche that came down from Huascaran caused by an earthquake in May 1970. The city is now considered a saint garden and the cemetery where 80 people were saved from the terrific avalanche.
Ascend the dusty road up to Llanganuco Lakes. After about 40 minutes of driving, arrive at a restaurant for lunch at around 1:00 PM. Continue to Llanganuco Lakes and start visiting the lakes Chinacocha. Take part in alternative activities such as sailing with small boats.
Continue walking around the lake and then head back to the bus and continue to the next Lake Orconcocha, where the campsite is settled. Enjoy the most beautiful campsite with bird watching, dinner, and overnight at Yuracorral at 4200 metres above sea level.
Day 2: Lake 69 Full Day Trekking
Enjoy an early morning breakfast at the campsite and watch the sunrise over the mountains. After breakfast, begin on a moderate slope for about 3 hours before you reach Lake 69.
When you get to Lake 69, you will have enough time to discover its beauty and take many unforgettable pictures. Enjoy wonderful views of the mountains and have a box lunch at the lake provided by the mountain cook.
Walk around the lake and take it all in. After a couple of hours, come back the same trail at Cebollapampa where the mountain staff will be waiting for you with hot drinks. Relax for some hours at the campsite until dinner time around 7:00 PM and overnight at Yuracorral at 4200 metres above sea level.
Day 3: Llanganuco Lakes – Maria Josefa Mysterious Trail – Huaraz
Wake up to a wonderful morning and enjoy the sunrise over the mountains. Have breakfast and then walk down along the Llanganuco Lakes valley, towards Orconcocha lake and Chinancocha lake.
From the base of the Chinancocha lake, enter the wonderful exotic trail into the quenuals forest down the valley. Walk for about 2 hours until the entrance of the valley of Llanganuco. Continue to the Huascaran National Park entrance control, and pass to walk down to Humacchuco arriving around 1:00 PM for lunch in the nicest countryside restaurant.
The bus waits for you here, and after lunch at 3:00 PM, depart to Huaraz. Arrive in Huaraz at around 6:00 PM.
