Day two Luoyang

Longmen grottoes:The construction of the Longmen Grottoes first commenced during the reign of Emperor Xiaowen of the Northern Wei Dynasty, around 493 AD. The project continued through successive dynasties, including the Eastern Wei, Western Wei, Northern Qi, Sui and Tang dynasties. Stretching approximately one kilometre from north to south, the grottoes presently house 2,345 caves and niches, over 100,000 statues, and more than 2,800 stone inscriptions. Renowned for their grand scale, exquisite craftsmanship and rich cultural content, the Longmen Grottoes stand as a treasure of Chinese grotto art and a vital heritage of human civilisation.

Luoyang old town:The wind at luoyang old town carries the lingering charm of the Sui and Tang dynasties, skims over the eaves of the Ming and Qing dynasties, and gently brushes through the streets and alleys of today.
