Cross the open Hardangerfjord before heading into the narrow waters of Fyksesund, where steep mountainsides rise close to the boat. This 75-minute RIB safari from Norheimsund combines stretches of speed with quieter stops for photographs and stories from your local captain.
As you travel further into the fjord branch, look out for waterfalls, small settlements and the old hamlet of Botnen, which has no road connection. Your captain shares stories about the places you pass and the people who have lived along these shores.
Experience the fjord in every season
This tour runs all year, not just in summer. Autumn colours, winter light and the changing landscape of spring give you different reasons to visit outside the main season. The route offers both the wide views of the Hardangerfjord and the close-up scenery of Fyksesund.
Before departure, meet your captain at Thon Hotel Sandven for a safety briefing and equipment fitting. An insulated flotation suit, life jacket and goggles are provided. Wear warm layers and suitable footwear underneath, especially in the colder months. There are no more than 12 guests per boat.
An easy day trip from Bergen
Make your own way to Norheimsund by car or direct public bus from Bergen. The meeting point is close to Norheimsund bus terminal, so you do not need a car to join the tour. Travel to and from Norheimsund is not included.
Two fjord experiences in one day: October–April
During these months, the RIB safari departs at 11:00. Afterwards, there is time for lunch or a walk in Norheimsund before Hardangerfjord Adventure’s separate Fjord Floating experience at 13:30.
Book both activities separately on for the same date, and enjoy two different ways to experience the Hardangerfjord before returning to Bergen. Check availability for both activities and your transport before booking.
This booking includes the RIB safari only. Fjord Floating, lunch and transport from Bergen are not included.
