What you can expect

This adventure kicks off just over 25 km north of Puerto Natales, in the Archaeological Park located within the Estancia Ernesto Helmer. On this day of exploration, you'll tour a unique natural and cultural environment, combining imposing landscapes with ancient vestiges.

The trail offers spectacular views of mountains, crevices, eaves, and valleys, as you approach the perches of condors that reign in the Patagonian skies. Once you reach the summit of Cerro Benítez, you'll be rewarded with an unparalleled panoramic view of the Eberhard Fjord, the Señoret Canal, and the iconic Laguna Sofía.

This hill is part of a valuable archaeological and paleontological sector, home to cave paintings estimated to be 3,500 years old. We'll visit the Cueva de la Ventana and, from the southeast side, we'll access the Cueva Escondida, equipped with headlamps. This cavity, about 4 metres high and 70 m², is home to ancient stalactites, formed by the constant filtration of mineral-rich water over time.

The tour wraps up with a hike to the Dos Herraduras sector, a set of rocky eaves that you can reach by crossing lush forests. There, on the walls of ancient formations that were once the seabed, you'll see cave paintings: silent testimony to the most remote past of this extraordinary land.
