Begin your adventure with a morning transfer from your hotel in Tashkent to the Uzbek–Tajik border at Oybek. After a smooth border crossing, meet your Tajik guide and driver and continue towards Khujand, the cultural jewel of northern Tajikistan.
Founded by Alexander the Great in 329 BC, Khujand was once called Alexandria Eskhata — “Alexandria the Furthest.” For centuries, the city stood proudly at the gateway of the Fergana Valley along the legendary Silk Road, flourishing as a major centre of trade, culture, and craftsmanship.
Visit the Citadel remaining of Khujand Fortress, built on the site of Alexander’s original stronghold. Explore the Historical Museum of Sughd, showcasing ancient artefacts, Silk Road treasures, traditional Tajik costumes, and archaeological discoveries.
Enjoy a relaxing stroll in Khujand’s Central Park, a lively gathering place where locals meet, relax, and celebrate daily life. Visit the peaceful Church of Maria Magdalena, a beautiful Russian Orthodox church reflecting the city’s multicultural heritage.
Experience the vibrant atmosphere of the famous Panjshanbe Market — one of the largest bazaars in Central Asia. Next, visit the Shaykh Muslihiddin Mausoleum, a significant spiritual and architectural landmark.
Discover the impressive Arbob Palace, once the administrative centre of a Soviet collective farm. This grand palace played a key role in Tajikistan’s modern history. See the monument to Ismoil Somoni, the national hero and founder of the Tajik state. You will also pass by a statue of Vladimir Lenin, reflecting the Soviet legacy of the region.
Enjoy traditional Tajik cuisine at a local restaurant, including plov (osh), shashlik, fresh non bread, and local dried fruits and nuts. In the late afternoon, drive back to the Oybek border. After completing border formalities, meet your Uzbek driver and return comfortably to Tashkent.
