What you can expect

Alvarado Located 72 km south of the port of Veracruz, at the mouth of the Blanco and Papaloapan rivers, this picturesque town is named after the conquistador Pedro de Alvarado. Known for its cheerful atmosphere and hospitable people, Alvarado stands out for its rich cuisine (such as its famous seafood, guava empanadas, and volovanes) and traditions such as the Feria de las Cruces in May.

Tlacotalpan Just 18 km from Alvarado, this charming town, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, is the cradle of Veracruz folklore. Its colourful streets, lined with traditional houses, are home to the Ferrando Museum, the House of Agustín Lara, the Church of La Candelaria, and the Nezahualcóyotl Theatre. Here you can enjoy traditional sweets, handicrafts, and exquisite regional cuisine.
