What you can expect

The Argentine side of the falls is quite different from the Brazilian side and is located 15 kilometres (9 miles) from Porto Iguaçu. About 250 metres (820 feet) past the ticket office is the central station, from which the train departs for the Garganta do Diabo (Devil's Throat), the main attraction, featuring a 2-kilometer (1.2-mile) return footbridge. Here, you walk above the water until you reach the viewpoint, where the view is incredible and the experience is unique. To get to this footbridge, you take an open-air train (with only a roof) that travels at 5 kilometres (3 miles) per hour.
In addition to the Devil's Throat, there are two more circuits: the inferior and the superior.
On the lower circuit, you can see the falls head-on, but there are stairs; part of it is accessible, though challenging for wheelchair users. The walk is 2.5 kilometres (1.6 miles). On the upper circuit, the walk is 2 kilometres (1.2 miles) and it is accessible. From this circuit, you can see the falls from above, offering a very different view from the lower circuit. Approximately 90% of the walkway runs above the water, with breathtaking viewpoints.
The entire route (Lower, Upper, and Devil's Throat) involves approximately 8 kilometres (5 miles) of walking, so it is important to wear light and comfortable clothes and shoes. If your ticket does not include admission, please bring cash for the tourist fee, which is 10 Brazilian reais, $2, €1, or 1,500 Argentine pesos.
