Overview

Explore Delft, Rotterdam and Gouda on a full-day private tour. You will get to know three very different, beautiful cities that all played a major role in Dutch history.

First up, you will see Leiden, known its stunning canals and classy streets. Step back in time as you explore its old centre. The city that heroically survived a Spanish siege in 1574 is full of stories: it was the home of Dutch Master Rembrandt, the oldest university of the country, and the Pilgrim Fathers.

Next up is Delft, a picturesque town full of centuries-old facades, squares, churches and canals. Discover the city of Johannes Vermeer, known for its blue pottery, the final resting place of the Orange family, and its top-rated Technical University. You'll have lunch here.

Lastly, you'll go to Gouda, with its charming town hall, fascinating weighing house and impressive church. You will explore the old city centre, and your guide will tell you all about it. You end the day with a little cheese tasting there.

Our guide will meet you in front of 'Bruna' on station Leiden Centraal. From here, the tour begins.

See the former animal market of Leiden, now a picturesque square not far from the train station.

Morspoort

The next thing you will see during the tour is the famous Morspoort, one of the oldest entrances to the city.

Molen de Put

We will walk past the iconic 17th century windmill Molen de Put. This is the same type of mill that the parents of Rembrandt owned.

Rembrandtplaats

This square is named after the famous Dutch master Rembrandt van Rijn, who used to live in Leiden. Let's find out more about it.

Pieterskerk Leiden

We cannot miss the Pieterskerk of course, the most famous church of Leiden. You will learn more about its history (going back to the 12th century!) and current use.

Here in the centre of the city, we will find The second-tallest church of The Netherlands! Do you know who's buried underneath? I'll tell you all about it. Also learn about that statue of a man, and the stunning old town hall.

Old Church

We are now in the old beer brewing quarter of Delft. Where did the brewers go? We will also see the Old Church, perhaps the most recognisable building of the city. How old is it exactly and why is it so skewed? Who knows.

Museum Prinsenhof Delft

This place has played a deciding role in Dutch history. The Father of the Fatherland was assassinated here! Let's find out more about it.

Gemeenlandshuis van Delfland

On our way down the Oude Delft canal, we will pass by a heavily decorated facade, that of the Gemeenlandshuis. What is this building and why was it so important?

Armamentarium

You will make your way to the south of the city. We will pass by a large former weapons Armoury of the V.O.C. Let's find out more about Delft's role in the golden days of the Dutch Republic. Also around here, we can take a look at the exact spot where Vermeer was standing when he made his painting 'View of Delft'.
