The Transfagarasan road was built as a strategic military route, and it is the highest (2042m) and most dramatic paved road in Romania. It runs North to South across the highest sections of the Carpathian Mountains, the Fagaras Mountains, connecting the historic regions of Transylvania and Wallachia. The Fagaras Mountains are the highest mountains of Romania and the Carpathian range with highest peak Moldoveanu (2544m.) The road passes nearby Balea Lac, a natural glacier lake situated at 2035m altitude and it’s 360 metres long, 240 metres wide and 11 metres deep and Balea Waterfall with its 60 metres height being one of the most famous waterfalls in Romania.

Operating period: between the 1st of July to 31st of October! For June, the tour might run with our confirmation upon accessibility due to high snow level.
