Jvari Church is a UNESCO World Heritage site located on a hilltop overlooking the Georgian town of Mtskheta, which was the former capital of Georgia. The church is considered to be one of the most important religious and architectural landmarks in the country, as it is one of the oldest surviving churches in Georgia and is recognised as a masterpiece of early Christian architecture. Jvari Church was built in the 6th century on the site where Saint Nino, a female evangelist who brought Christianity to Georgia, erected a wooden cross. The church was originally a small chapel, but it was later expanded and renovated several times over the centuries. The current structure is a mixture of styles, including Georgian, Armenian, and Byzantine, and features a unique four-apsed design.
