ITINERARY
Our morning begins at the Santa Teresita Parish, where we will learn how Catholic refugees, driven by armed conflict, founded this traditional area a century ago. Then we'll stroll to the bustling neighborhood’s market for a true taste of Guadalajara.
Prepare your taste buds for a feast of local specialities: from succulent birria and iconic tortas ahogadas to tender pastor tacos, mouthwatering quesadillas (flat-grilled or deep fried), and savoury chilaquiles! I will gladly provide recommendations and you will be free to choose your preferred delicacy (food is included, all dietary preferences are welcome!)
Next, we'll explore Colonia Americana, a beautiful area of early 1900s eclectic architecture, nowadays a dynamic hub for the city's young, artistic, and hip scene. We'll stroll its tree-lined streets to admire 3 of Luis Barragán's earliest works from the 1920s, showcasing the regionalist style/tapatio school that originated in Guadalajara and gained international acclaim (Access to the interiors of the properties is dependant on their event schedules).
We'll also visit Hotel Boutique Casa Eduviges, a beautiful work by Juan José Barragán, Luis Barragán's brother, and learn about his eclectic architectural style.
To bring our tour to a delightful close, we can visit one of the area's trendy bistros or bars for coffee, craft beer, or tequila or mezcal cocktails, the choice is yours!
