What you can expect

Begin your tour by meeting your guide at Xiaobei Metro Station. Stroll along Xiaobei Road and Huanshi Middle Road, where African and Chinese cultures intersect. Visit African supermarkets selling plantains, palm oil, spices, and imported snacks.

Pop into a local café or restaurant for an authentic taste. Try suya (spicy grilled beef skewers), sip attaya (Senegalese mint tea) or ginger juice, or enjoy a plate of jollof rice or fufu with soup. Observe daily life: traders chatting in French, Hausa, or Swahili; barbers crafting intricate braids; shops displaying textiles bound for Lagos or Nairobi.

Next, take a short walk or taxi to Yuexiu Park. Enter via the North Gate (near Zhenhai Tower) for the most scenic route. Discover one of China’s most beautiful urban parks, with 2,000+ years of history.

Visit the Five Rams Statue (Wuyang Sculpture), a symbol of Guangzhou’s legend—“Five Immortals rode rams to bless the city with grain.” See the Zhenhai Tower (Five-Story Pagoda), built in 1380, which now houses the Guangzhou Museum (optional quick visit).

Climb a section of the Ming Dynasty City Wall Remnants for panoramic views over the park. Relax by Beixiu Lake, stroll past banyan trees, bamboo groves, and flower beds. Head to the hilltop near Zhenhai Tower around 5:30–6:00 PM for golden-hour views over the city skyline.
