What you can expect

  • This tour introduces you to Louisiana's many charms, from the landmarks in New Orleans to the biodiversity of the Barataria Swamp. Hop aboard a bus and learn about New Orleans' history as you pass iconic spots, then cruise out into the wetlands aboard a boat for an insightful adventure.

    Your day starts with a bus tour through New Orleans, narrated by an expert guide. Roll past the French Quarter, catching sight of the oldest cathedral in the United States, St. Louis Cathedral, as well as Jackson Square, where Louisiana was made US territory in 1803. Your tour takes you past the 100-year-old houses on Esplanade Avenue, stopping briefly at one of the city's above-ground cemeteries to explore and learn about the unique, reusable tombs. Back on the bus, get a taste of New Orleans' American side as you drive down St. Charles Avenue and pass the opulent homes of the Garden District.

    After your bus tour, climb aboard a boat or airboat and set off into the Barataria Swamp. Part of the Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Reserve, the swamp is a magnificent 23,000-acre (9,308-ha) spread of marsh, trails and waterways. As you drift through the wetlands, keep your eyes peeled for a variety of birds, snakes, turtles, and alligators, and listen to stories about the region from your guide.
