What you can expect

We will begin our walk through the history of Hamburg at Hammaburg Platz,
the birthplace and cradle of Hamburg, and learn how Hamburg got its name.

We will then continue our tour through Hamburg's Kontorhausviertel, the former centre of Hamburg's merchants, and its brick office buildings.

We'll take a peek under the pretty ballerina skirt of the prima ballerina of the Kontorhaus district.

We'll take a critical look at the founding charter of our port and discover a few contradictions.

We'll continue our walk to the Speicherstadt district, immerse ourselves in the red brick canyons and their stories, and find out what Westphalia has to do with Hamburg and why workers lived in a castle there.

We'll find out exactly what quartermasters and lightermen actually did, and why there are coffee barons and Persians in Hamburg.
