What you can expect

Begin your day with a visit to the Solitary Beauty Peak and Prince City Scenic Area, home to China’s best-preserved princely mansion from the Ming Dynasty. Explore Chengyun Hall, the Red Mansion Wall, and the Guangxi Imperial Examination Hall.

Climb 306 gentle steps to reach the summit of Solitary Beauty Peak, where you can enjoy a panoramic bird’s-eye view of Guilin. The Li River, Elephant Trunk Hill, and old city centre streets all come into sight, making it a perfect viewpoint for sunset.

Explore the Guangxi Imperial Examination Hall, the official imperial examination venue in the Qing Dynasty, which produced four top scholars. Take part in an immersive ancient-style imperial examination simulation and receive a souvenir certificate of Zhuangyuan (top scholar) or Bangyan (second-ranked scholar) upon completion, delivering great fun for study tours and family outings.

Set in the mansion’s rear garden, the Crescent Moon Pond is surrounded by ancient trees, creating a serene picturesque atmosphere. The Sun Yat-sen Memorial Tower records modern Guilin’s history dating back to the Republic of China era.

Make your own rubbing print of the Chinese character “Fu” (blessing) by hand. The finished artwork can be taken home as a travel souvenir, symbolising good fortune blessed by the ancient royal mansion.

In the afternoon, head to Reed Flute Cave, often known as Guilin’s “Natural Underground Art Palace.” Its biggest highlight is not excitement or adventure, but the dreamy and impressive underground scenery created by colourful lights, stalactites, and Guilin’s unique karst landform.

Inside the cave, see various natural formations such as stalactites, stalagmites, stone pillars, and stone curtains. Some look like palaces, some like forests, some like waterfalls, and some even resemble animals. As you walk through the cave, every corner leaves room for imagination. With the colourful lighting, the whole cave feels like a hidden underground fairyland, making it a great spot for photos.
