What you can expect

  • Begin your experience with a catamaran boat ride on the beautiful Hiriwadunna Lake. Take in the serene surroundings and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere.

Next, hop on a bullock cart for a ride around the village. See the local way of life and get a feel for the rural landscape.

Arrive at a local village house, where you’ll be welcomed by the villagers. Join the women of the house as they guide you through the process of preparing a traditional meal using fresh, locally sourced ingredients like hand-picked vegetables and fresh fish.

Cook using traditional tools and methods, such as clay pots over a wood-fired stove. After the hands-on experience, sit down to enjoy the delicious meal you helped prepare, often served in a buffet style on lotus leaves.
