What you can expect

  • Itinerary Update Notice

Your journey begins at Oshino Hakkai, a charming traditional village nestled at the foot of Mount Fuji. Surrounded by eight crystal-clear spring ponds fed by melted snow from the mountain, this peaceful setting offers one of the most photogenic views of Japan’s most famous peak. Stroll past thatched-roof houses, sample local snacks, and capture postcard-worthy shots as you ease into the day.

Next, travel into the scenic mountains of Hakone. Board the spectacular Hakone Ropeway, gliding above dramatic valleys and geothermal landscapes on your way to Owakudani. As the ropeway climbs, take in sweeping views of forests, lakes, and—on clear days—Mount Fuji rising proudly in the distance.

Arrive at Owakudani, a fascinating volcanic valley formed by an ancient eruption of Mount Hakone. Watch steam rise from active vents and bubbling hot springs, and don’t miss the chance to try the region’s famous black eggs, boiled in sulfur-rich waters and said to add years to your life.

Continue your Hakone experience with a relaxing cruise across Lake Ashi. Surrounded by mountains and tranquil waters, this scenic ride offers another chance to admire Mount Fuji from a different perspective—especially magical on a clear day.

Enjoy a brief stop at Hakone Shrine, a serene Shinto shrine hidden within a forest by the lakeside. Its iconic red torii gate standing gracefully over the water is one of Hakone’s most photographed landmarks and a symbol of spiritual harmony with nature.

Before returning to Tokyo, there may be an optional visit to Odawara Castle, located about a 10-minute walk from Odawara Station. This reconstructed samurai-era castle offers a brief introduction to the region’s feudal history and the powerful warlords who once controlled this strategic area.

To conclude the day, enjoy a truly unique highlight: a high-speed return to Tokyo aboard the world-renowned Shinkansen. Experience Japan’s cutting-edge rail technology as you travel smoothly and comfortably back to the city in just 30 minutes—avoiding traffic and ending your adventure on an exciting note.
