What you can expect

Visit one of Mexico's most prominent pilgrimage sites with a tour of the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Learn about Mexican religious culture as a guide takes you through the old shrine, the Chapel of Tepeyac Hill, and the new basilica which houses the original tilma (cloak) of Juan Diego.

Your guide takes you next to the nearby Chapel of Tepeyac Hill, then to the new basilica, which was built from 1974 to 1976. The tilma (cloak) of Saint Juan Diego, which holds the image of the Lady of Guadalupe, was moved to the new basilica upon its construction. Admire the building's architecture, which was designed so that the image of the Virgin can be seen from any point inside, and get the chance to attend daily mass before heading back to your starting point.
