Explore Hamburg’s harbour history on a walking tour. Follow the Elbe to lesser-known places that shaped the Hanseatic city and learn how major historical periods changed the harbour area.

Start at Baumwall and visit the Sieleinstieg (also called the “Ankleidezimmer des Kaisers”), connected to the city’s early sewer system. Continue to visible relics from World War II and understand why the harbour was a target of air raids.

A special highlight is the descent into the Old Elbe Tunnel, around 24 metres deep, where you can experience the harbour from a unique perspective before the tour ends at Landungsbrücken.
