What you can expect
A paddling adventure by Stand up Paddleboard on the River Stort Navigation in Hertfordshire from our base at Sawbridgeworth.
Our trip starts at Sawbridgeworth where we will provide boats, paddles and buoyancy aids ready for your river tour.
We have a short carry with our boats from our boat stores to the water where we will help set up the boats ready for paddling and give you safety and navigation guidance.
We will then set you off to explore the Hertfordshire countryside, paddling upstream to Tednamebury lock, working as a team to portage boats around the locks, which have been a traditional feature of the river since 1753 along with views of traditional watermills in the distance. Our trip continues upstream to Spellbrook to visit to a riverside cafe just a short walk from the river with the option to purchase yourself a snack or drink or refreshments or have a relaxing break in the pub or beer garden with a return trip back by boats on our 3 hour tour.
There is a requirement to be able carry launch and portage paddleboards as well as lift and carry boats to and from the water and be able to paddle independently whilst on the journey.
Our paddleboards are easy to paddle, with skegs to keep them going in a straight line.
