Experience day-to-day rural Zulu life in northern KwaZulu-Natal on a guided walking tour through a rural community near Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park. Start the day with a 3-4 hour early morning safari with a picnic breakfast in our “Big 5” Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park. At around 11:00am arrive at the KwaSmolo Community Walk starting point just outside the park. Here you will experience a completely “unscripted” community visit. There is no schedule, no start time, all visits are completely random and the community will never know when a group may pass through. We do it this way keep interactions with the locals as authentic as possible. So that you see and experience people going about their day-to-day lives in the community as normal and natural as possible.
During this guided walk you will visit a local primary school, the community “Sangoma” (Spirtual Healer), the Shembe Temple and pop in at the local “Spaza” or corner cafe/store where some daily basic essentials are bought by the locals. Once back at the start/end point you will enjoy local community hospitality with a traditional “Shisanyama” or BBQ for lunch and afterwards being entertained with some interactive traditional Zulu dancing by members of the community youth dance group.
When you're all done with the community tour, you round off this exciting day heading back into Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park for a 3-4 hour afternoon safari drive before being dropped off back at your accommodation in Hluhluwe or St Lucia.
