What you can expect

  • Come discover the city of Horta on a leisurely walk led by a local Azorean guide. Throughout this tour, you'll learn about the city's history, its connections to the sea and immigration, and the importance that Horta has always had as a crossing point for the Atlantic.

The tour kicks off in the historic centre, where you'll learn about Azorean culture, daily life in Faial, and significant events from the past. Stroll through streets full of identity, gardens, viewpoints, and iconic places that often go unnoticed by visitors.

Along the way, the guide will tell you about local traditions, cuisine, the special relationship of the Faial people with the sea and volcanoes, and how nature has shaped life on the island. The tour is done at the group's pace, with time for photos, questions, and unique stories from those who live in Faial every day.

By the end, you'll have a deeper perspective of Horta and Faial—not just as a tourist destination, but as a living place, full of character, memories, and the Azorean soul. It's the perfect experience to kick off your visit to the island.
