The Super Sul Tour is the ultimate choice for those who want to explore the most untouched and majestic side of Ilha Grande. This itinerary runs along the ocean coast, revealing open sea scenery and less explored spots that have a deep connection with the wilderness. Ideal for travellers looking to escape the obvious and experience striking landscapes, extremely crystal-clear waters, and the authenticity of an island preserved by time.
Our adventure begins in the exclusive corner of Lopes Mendes, voted one of the best beaches in the world. While the main shoreline is famous for its strong waves, the stretch where we disembark offers a show of its own: an almost deserted area, with no boats, with calm and transparent waters that look like a mirror under the fine, light-colored sand. It's a magical and charming retreat to start the day in tranquility.
Sailing along the coast, we arrive at Caxadaço, a treasure hidden behind an imposing rock wall. This rustic cove, just 15 metres (49 feet) long, served as a natural shelter for boats in colonial times, remaining invisible to those passing by sea. Surrounded by dense vegetation, the beach has a small freshwater stream flowing into it, creating one of the island's most spectacular and exclusive landscapes.
The journey continues to the mystical Vila de Dois Rios, a place that combines lush natural beauty with a fascinating history.
Known as the former “Devil's Cauldron,” the beach is home to the ruins of the Cândido Mendes Prison and the Prison Museum. You will be able to explore the village, walk between the rivers that give the place its name, and savour the native cuisine, immersing yourself in the stories that have protected the island from mass tourism for decades.
To end on a high note, we sail to Jorge Grego Island. Shrouded in legends of privateers and shipwrecks, this open-sea island is one of the best diving spots in the region. Its waters are extremely crystal clear, perfect for snorkelling and observing colourful corals and fish. With a bit of luck, you might even spot dolphins that often frequent the area, making it an authentic and unforgettable experience.
