What you can expect

Explore the narrow streets of the city of Grenoble in an immersive journey back to the 17th century during a captivating guided tour led by a costumed historical guide.

It's Marie de Vignon, the bold second wife of the Constable of Lesdiguières, who will be your guide. She will speak to you about their relationship, which did not begin under the best auspices. As a young Catholic bourgeois, she defied conventions by marrying François, a Protestant Captain and Commander-in-Chief of Dauphiné for King Henri IV. Their unique relationship gave rise to scandals, rumours of witchcraft, and accusations of excessive ambition. However, Marie Vignon remained by Lesdiguières' side throughout his rise, providing an intimate look at his transformation from a provincial nobleman to the Constable of France, the second most influential figure in the Kingdom of France.

Explore this dark era of religious wars while rediscovering the transformations Lesdiguières brought to Grenoble to become the 'Capital of the Alps'
