This two day short Inca Trail hike with hotel allows you to visit the most beautiful ruins along the way to Machu Picchu, Winawayna. Enjoy lunch before visiting and then continue through the Sun Gate for your first view of the Lost City of the Incas. You will continue down to Aguas Calientes village and have dinner at the best restaurant in town before heading to bed. For those who want a small taste of hiking the Andes, a 1-day hike and next day spent at Machu Picchu can't be beaten.

Day 01: Hike the Royal Short Inca Trail .

We pick-up from your hotel at 4 am to catch the train from Ollantaytambo. Once we reach Km 104, where we'll begin our trek. Along the way, you’ll see spectacular views of farmlands, snow-capped mountains, and the mighty Urubamba River.

After hiking for three hours, we’ll reach the most beautiful Incan site on the Inca Trail, Wiñay Wayna, Few people get the opportunity to see these elaborate water fountains, temples and agricultural terraces. These provide a perfect opportunity to learn about the history of the Incas. The backdrop of this site is a dramatic cliff drop with beautiful mountains surrounding the area.

Know before you book

  • BOOKING: We try to make booking as easy as possible at Alpaca Expeditions. We need a booking form that is completed and includes all details for the entire party on one form.
  • PERMITS: Only licensed Inca Trail tour operators, like Alpaca Expeditions, can secure permits from the government. Once we have secured your permit, the name and start date can not be changed under any circumstance. The only information that the government allows us to change is passport numbers.
  • UPDATING PASSPORT NUMBERS: The government will only allow us to change passport numbers if we have a copy of the new passport and old passport. If you no longer have your old passport, any government issue ID will be accepted, as long as the name is the same.
  • HOW TO GET TO CUSCO: Cusco airport is for domestic travel only. If you come directly from overseas through Lima, you must get your bags in Lima and re-check them for your flight to Cusco.

Day 02: Machu Picchu.

Today will be all about Machu Picchu. To get the most out of the day we encourage every group to have an early breakfast before catching one of the first buses up to Machu Picchu

Once in Machu Picchu, your guide will take you directly to the best place to watch the sunrise and take photographs. Your local guide will then show you around the main sectors of the citadel for a total of 2.5 hours. During this guided tour you’ll learn more about the history and culture of the Inca Empire. In te afternoon you will take train & bus to Cusco and we will drop you off in your hotel
